The first working day after the agreement, Minister for Defence Peter Hultqvist visiting Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik.

Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist during the Monday this week paid a visit to Örnsköldsvik and BAE Systems Hägglunds where he was welcomed by Managing Director Tommy Gustafsson-Rask: “This is great, now we have a further opportunity to demonstrate our position and future capabilities for the Swedish customer and our international opportunities ”, Gustafsson-Rask said.

The minister talked a lot about the agreement between the Government and the Liberal Party and the Centre Party regarding defence funding. The investment will lead to continued upgrading of the Swedish defence capability and will benefit the Swedish defence industry over time, BAE Systems Hägglunds included. When being asked by local paper Örnsköldsviks Allehanda to say something about BAE Systems Hägglunds, Peter Hultqvist said:

“It is a very stable company which has been around for long and they know what they are doing. They are in the forefront and have loyal employees. You just need to view their future business opportunities to understand what level they are at”.

“I want to underline that I can’t pre-promise anything, but now we are investing in the Swedish defence capability and of course some of the investments will land in Swedish based companies, after following the robust procurement processes at FMV.”
