Saab Receives Order From FMV For Carl-Gustaf Ammunition

Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) for deliveries of Carl-Gustaf ammunition to the Swedish Army. The order value amounts to approximately SEK122 million and final delivery will take place during 2017.

Since 1948, the Carl-Gustaf multi-purpose weapon system has been supporting dismounted infantry around the world in dealing with a full range of battlefield challenges, and for decades, the system has been in service within the Swedish Army.

“With this order, of both live and training ammunition, the Swedish Armed Forces continues its efforts to increase the capability of its army on the battlefield. The order is definitely a strong proof of the customer’s trust in the system and in Saab as a supplier”, says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab business area Dynamics.

The Carl-Gustaf is a world-leading weapon system within the support weapon category. It has been constantly modernised and enhanced to meet users’ changing needs. The latest version, the Carl-Gustaf M4, reduces the weight from 10 kg to less than 7 kg. Carl-Gustaf is a battle-winning system for soldiers operating in demanding environments. Employing a wide range of ammunition types, the Carl-Gustaf system allows dismounted soldiers to defeat multiple challenges – from neutralising armoured vehicles to clearing obstacles and engaging enemies in buildings.
