W5 Solutions Wins Ground Power Unit Procurement
W5 Solutions awarded an order from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) to deliver helicopter Ground Power Units.
To satisfy the Swedish Armed Forces need for electric power supply to its Sikorsky Black Hawk and NH Industries NH90 helicopters, W5 Solutions has been awarded a contract for the delivery of Ground Power Units (GPU). The GPU output rating is 50kVA and the system is adapted to the helicopter specific needs. In addition to fulfilling tough requirements on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), power quality and operational environment, the GPU is also completely mobile. Delivered on a trailer it can easily be towed and the design ensures easy loading onto a transport aircraft, such as Lockheed C-130. With its built-in diesel engine, the GPU is completely self-supplying.
