Astor Group has established itself as a partner in the defence industry and has gained the trust of both national and international players in the defence and security sector. Each company within the group is a leading player in its specific niche and each represents cutting-edge expertise in its field. The group’s products and services are known for delivering high quality and reliability with a focus on performance, sustainability and dependability.
Astor Protect
Astor Protect is the Group’s platform for personal protective equipment, tactical security systems, survival solutions and ammunition production. The business area was created to meet the growing need for integrated, technologically advanced protection systems for military, civil and rescue personnel in high-risk environments.
The focus is on delivering products that combine operational functionality and high technical performance. The target groups consist mainly of the armed forces of NATO countries with their special forces, rescue services, civil authorities and industrial actors. The business area currently consists of the following operations.
Airsafe Sweden is a leading Nordic supplier of advanced military and civil aviation safety equipment. With extensive experience in parachute and safety systems, we offer high-performance solutions such as personal and cargo parachutes, survival equipment, tactical carrying systems, aerial targets and oxygen systems. As an exclusive partner to Airborne Systems and with production in accordance with NATO standards, Airsafe supplies defence customers in demanding environments and continues to strengthen its capacity to meet growing European demand.
Ammunity SIA, headquartered in Riga, is Latvia’s only manufacturer of military ammunition and the largest private player in small-caliber ammunition in the Baltic region. The company has a clear niche in high-quality, precision-safe ammunition for small arms, with a customer base in both national defense capabilities and international collaborations. Ammunity SIA has had the status of a company of national security importance since June 2024 and maintains close cooperation with the Latvian armed forces and authorities on robust supply capabilities, technology transfer, and long-term capacity development.
Nordic Shield Group (NSG) is a company that develops and manufactures modular and scalable secure rooms and spaces for the protection of equipment, high-tech systems, and personnel. NSG is an associated company within the Astor Group, and the Astor Protect business area is part of the development and manufacture of products carried out by NSG and its respective subsidiaries.
Astor Industry
The business area Astor Industry consists of the subsidiaries Marstrom Composite and Mikroponent. Manufacturing is carried out for markets that include both defence and civil equipment.
Marstrom Composite is a leading manufacturer of carbon fibre and composite products for extreme environments, where low weight, high rigidity and safety are crucial. Marstrom brings together several businesses that use advanced manufacturing processes that combine high rigidity and strength with low weight. The products are used in the marine, defence, aviation and automotive industries, including the creation of composite gun turrets that improve stability in rough seas. The companies also offer solutions for sensitive load devices, forestry machine arms and masts. Composite materials offer advantages such as vibration damping, sound insulation and electrical insulation, which improve performance and protect sensitive electronics.
Mikroponent and its subsidiary Welas manufacture high-precision thin metal components using etching and laser cutting, particularly for the defence industry. The company specialises in metal with a thickness of between 0.01 and 2 mm and creates detailed components with tight tolerances. Mikroponent is one of the few companies in Europe that can quickly start production, regardless of whether it involves small or large series. Together with its subsidiary, the company supplies everything from circuit boards and precision parts for weapons to automotive components, medical technology parts and customised optical devices and sensors – always with high precision and short lead times.
Astor Tech
Astor Tech is the Group’s technology centre, and its main mission is to develop, manufacture and deliver advanced system solutions in areas such as electromagnetic warfare, advanced high-speed testing and (through collaboration) military stealth and covert vehicles for unmanned underwater weapons, among other things. The business area is primarily aimed at the armed forces of NATO countries, defence industry companies and authorities responsible for security, but also at research institutes. Astor Tech’s companies mainly supply operational systems but also offer training solutions and technical infrastructure for testing, verification and evaluation. The Astor Tech business area currently consists of the wholly owned subsidiaries Oscilion EW Systems, Oscilion Naval Systems and Scandiflash.
Oscilion EW Systems AB develops advanced systems for electromagnetic warfare (EW) and offers complete solutions for detection, analysis, simulation and jamming of electromagnetic signals. The portable Eclipse C UAS system provides effective protection against radio-controlled drones across a wide frequency spectrum. The portfolio also includes the Astor series, where Astor IV is an airborne radar jamming system that increases the survivability of military units. Oscilion also supplies solutions for GPS jamming and robust communication networks, with in-house development from design to commissioning and training.
Oscilion Naval Systems AB develops advanced marine technology with a focus on underwater solutions such as unmanned underwater vehicles and stealth vehicles. With expertise in silent propulsion technology, the company delivers next-generation capabilities for naval defence platforms. Through Astor Group’s partnership in Dolprop Industries, Oscilion has exclusive rights to develop military applications in stealth and underwater weapon systems, creating a unique offering for customers who require strategic autonomy below the sea surface.
Scandiflash AB in Uppsala is a world leader in flash X-ray technology, which enables extremely fast imaging through smoke, fire and various materials. With exposure times down to 20 nanoseconds, the systems capture moments that other technologies fail to capture. Scandiflash is used globally for ballistic testing, advanced materials testing, collision research and protection system validation. Hundreds of systems have been delivered to over 30 countries and are used by defence institutes, universities, industry and space organisations. The company offers modular systems, customisations, spare parts, calibration and advanced support. The head office for development and production is located in Uppsala.
